As a former associate at Finnegan, Anna Chauvet rejoins the firm as a partner and leader of the copyright practice.
Speaking with Law360 Pulse, Anna said, “I'm very excited to leverage my experience in shaping copyright from various vantage points — litigation, legislative efforts, regulation — to advance our clients' interests.”
Anna said she first became interested in copyright law in law school, but that she attended an event shortly after joining the U.S. Copyright Office which changed everything about how she viewed copyright law.
"Hearing [Ashley Gorley] explain how he and Cole Swindell had written 'You Should Be Here' as a tribute to Swindell's father, who had died unexpectedly, and their process of songwriting, gave incredible meaning to that song once it was later performed," she said. "Copyright underpins the music industry and makes that ecosystem possible. And that's true for a variety of other industries, like software and book publishing. I love that copyright gives meaning to and is a part of everyday life — for both creators and users."
