AFA Models We Offer

Fixed Fees

Predictable pricing for defined scopes: Fixed fees offer cost certainty and provide the flexibility to allocate resources as required by the matter.

Benefits:

  • Budget Certainty: Know your costs upfront with no surprises.
  • Simplified Billing: Streamlined invoicing for both parties.
  • Efficiency Incentives: Encourages and rewards efficiency.
  • Scalability: Easily applied across portfolios or recurring workstreams.

Fixed Fee by Phase

Structured pricing that evolves with the matter’s lifecycle, offering clarity from early resolution through trial.

Benefits:

  • Budget Certainty
  • Simplified Billing
  • Efficiency Incentives

Capped Fees with Success Bonus

This model sets a maximum fee for the engagement while offering a success bonus if defined outcomes—such as favorable rulings, early settlements, or damages awards—are achieved.

Benefits:

  • Budget Certainty — Clear expectations on base legal spend
  • Competitive Fee Structure — Shifts financial risk away from the client
  • Performance Incentives — Ensures efficiency and incentivizes favorable outcomes

Risk Collar Arrangement

A risk collar sets a target budget with an upper and lower threshold—creating a shared risk/reward zone between the client and the firm. If actual fees fall within the collar, the client pays the agreed amount. If fees fall below or exceed the collar, the difference is shared based on pre-agreed percentages.

Benefits:

  • Budget Predictability: Establishes a clear target with defined boundaries.
  • Shared Risk & Reward: Encourages efficiency and cost control from both sides.
  • Aligned Incentives: Ensures careful control of scope and budget.
  • Flexibility: Adapts to evolving matters while maintaining financial guardrails.

Holdback and Success Fees

A results driven model that balances risk and reward whereby a portion of fees are deferred and paid upon achieving defined outcomes.

Benefits:

  • Performance-Based Value: Pay more only when meaningful results are delivered.
  • Shared Risk: Both sides assume a share of the risk, reinforcing a joint commitment to favorable outcomes.
  • Cash Flow Flexibility: Defers a portion of fees, easing short-term budget pressure.
  • Aligned Incentives: Encourages strategic focus and efficient execution.

Blended Hourly Rates

A single rate across all timekeepers or banded by title level.

Benefits:

  • Rate certainty for our clients
  • Promotes efficient resource allocation across experience levels

Volume-Based Discounts

Discounts tied to portfolio size or overall revenue provided by the client within a calendar year or defined period.

Benefits:

  • Rewards client for higher volume of work given to our firm
  • Discount relief provided for higher volume engagements
  • Deepens partnerships between clients and our firm
