Rambus Goes After Broadcom, LSI in Latest IP Suits

December 2, 2010

Law360

Rambus Inc. has made another push to protect its computer chip patents, filing three new infringement suits — including one in the U.S. International Trade Commission — against LSI Corp., Broadcom Corp. and dozens of others. The complaints accuse the defendants of making, selling, or importing personal computers, workstations, Blu-ray disc players and other items containing parts that allegedly incorporate the plaintiff's intellectual property. The company sued LSI and Broadcom on Tuesday in separate suits in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and asked the ITC to pick up a Section 337 probe against more than 30 U.S., Asian, and European companies, including LSI, Broadcom, Nvidia Corp., STMicroelectronics Inc., Mediatek Inc. and Freescale Semiconductor Inc. Rambus is represented by Finnegan.
