Managing Intellectual Property
Managing Intellectual Property interviewed Finnegan's diversity partner-in-charge, Mareesa Frederick, to discuss how intellectual property law firms furthered their diversity and inclusion efforts in 2020.
Mareesa discussed the importance of mentorship, highlighting Finnegan’s new mentorship and secondment programs for diverse associates. She said, “Having someone to help them develop the soft skills that help in business development is extremely valuable for these mid-level associates. Mareesa also talked about Finnegan’s efforts in recruiting talent from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). In addition to recruiting, Finnegan attorneys teach at HBCUs to expose black students pursuing science, technology, engineering, or math degrees to a career in patent law.
