A Pennsylvania federal jury has awarded Promptu Systems Corp. $240 million after finding that Comcast’s voice‑enabled television platform intentionally infringed two Promptu patents.
Finnegan represented Promptu in the long‑running dispute, which began in 2016 and proceeded to trial on two patents covering foundational voice‑recognition technology. The jury found willful infringement on both patents, opening the door for the court to enhance damages up to threefold.
Finnegan partner and counsel for Promptu, Jacob Schroeder, emphasized the significance of the ruling, stating that the verdict “vindicates Promptu’s pioneering work in voice‑powered TV interfaces and confirms that Comcast’s products incorporated Promptu’s patented innovations.”
The case returned to the district court after the Federal Circuit vacated an earlier non‑infringement judgment in 2024, agreeing with Promptu, that the trial court had construed key claim terms too narrowly.
