Women and minority business owners often face insurmountable barriers when operating their businesses, including funding, protecting intellectual property (IP), and general costs. These entrepreneurs commonly operate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which serve as catalysts for global economic growth. Due to the barriers the business owners face, these SMEs can often lack proper funding to keep the venture profitable.
INTA Daily News contacted Finnegan partner Virginia Carron to discuss the importance of visibility and recognition for the success of a business. Virginia explained, “Generally, communities and consumers want to support such businesses, but they must be able to find and know them.”
She added “A strong, but easily identifiable, brand that informs or at least suggests to the consumer and community that the business behind the brand is women or minority-owned can help these businesses overcome this hurdle.”
