Well-Being Week in Law (WWIL) runs May 3-7, 2021, with the goal of raising awareness about mental health and encouraging action across the legal profession. During this week, law firms offered various wellness activities and resources to attorneys and staff to help improve well-being.
Finnegan kicked off WWIL with a panel discussion for attorneys and staff. The panel of partners shared strategies for how they incorporate well-being practices into their lives while maintaining a busy and productive law practice as well as a fulfilling personal life. The panelists emphasized how taking care of themselves enables them to show up and perform better for their clients, their mentors and mentees, and their families and friends outside of work. They also discussed how their well-being practices have evolved over the years, some as a direct result of experiencing their own physical or mental health challenges.
One panelist encouraged the audience to take active steps to improve well-being—like getting into the wellness driver's seat rather than riding along as a passenger—and emphasized the positive impact on all aspects of life such an approach can provide.
