Finnegan attorneys Chip Rettew, Patrick Rodgers, and Maxime (Max) Jarquin were recognized in The AmLaw Litigation Daily’s “Litigator of the Week” column which spotlights a win on behalf of the firm’s client Under Armour. At the end of January, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) found that the activewear company’s trademark was “inherently distinctive and … conceptually strong” in refusing registration to Dwight Jacobsen who wanted to trademark “OUTERARMOUR” for use on hats and t-shirts. This is the third time the firm has been recognized by Litigator of the Week on behalf of Under Armour. In 2023, a federal jury in Baltimore found that Armorina, a women’s athletic wear company, infringed Armour-based trademarks and in 2020, Under Armour secured a rare trademark infringement win in China.
