Best Lawyers in Germany Recognizes Four Finnegan Partners in Recent Rankings

June 12, 2025

Best Lawyers

Best Lawyers released its 2026 editions of The Best Lawyers in Germany and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Germany, recognizing well-established attorneys and emerging newcomers in the legal field, respectively. The Best Lawyers in Germany focuses on well-established attorneys with at least a decade of experience and long-standing reputations. Experts in their fields, these attorneys have delivered consistent, high-level performances and have made substantial contributions to the legal field. Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Germany highlights emerging legal talent who are early in their careers, with 5-9 years of legal experience, but exhibit significant potential, innovation and skill. Finnegan is pleased to have attorneys recognized in both publications.

For the eighth consecutive year, Dr. Dr. Jochen Herr, LL.M., managing partner of Finnegan’s Munich office, was recognized in The Best Lawyers in Germany for his work in Intellectual Property Law and Litigation. Jochen is one of the rare lawyers in Germany admitted as an attorney at law, a German patent attorney, and a European patent attorney. With over 20 years of experience in patent litigation proceedings, Jochen advises companies on all contentious patent matters and has particular experience at the interface between patent law and antitrust law, in complex international patent litigation cases as well as in patent disputes before courts of arbitration.

A testament to the firm’s commitment to developing emerging talent, three Munich partners were recognized in the 2026 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Germany. Joining the list for the first time is Dr. Antje Brambrink, a qualified and admitted attorney at law in Germany who advises and represents clients in complex patent disputes on all IP-related matters. Her expertise covers various fields of technology with a focus on pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, med-tech, as well as renewable energies and high-tech. Clients appreciate Antje’s deep understanding of the life sciences sector based on her dual qualification as a licensed dentist. Antje was recognized for her work in Intellectual Property Law and Litigation.

Dr. Johannes Druschel focuses on patent litigation, representing clients in both patent infringement and validity proceedings before German district and higher regional courts, the Federal Patent Court, the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the European Patent Office (EPO) as well as the Unified Patent Court (UPC). Recognized for his work in Intellectual Property Law and Litigation, Johannes handles patent litigation proceedings across all major technical fields but has particular experience handling complex international patent litigation cases concerning telecommunication and medical devices. This is Johannes’s fourth consecutive appearance in The Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Germany.

Recognized for his work in Intellectual Property Law, Dr. Moritz Meckel focuses his practice on patent and utility model disputes, handling infringement, nullity, cancellation and opposition proceedings. Mortiz holds a Ph.D. in physics, and like Jochen, is one of only a handful of lawyers in Germany admitted as an attorney at law, a German patent attorney, and a European patent attorney. Leveraging his combined legal experience and technological expertise, Mortiz represents clients in contentious matters relating to a wide range of technologies, including materials science, electronics, optics, medical devices, automotive, and mechanics. This marks his third consecutive appearance in The Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Germany.

Recognition by Best Lawyers is based entirely on a peer review process that involves currently recognized “Best Lawyers” or “Ones to Watch” providing feedback on the caliber of the nominee’s work. To be considered, nominees must be in private practice and in good standing with their local bar associations and must be nominated by someone other than themselves.
