Crestor® maker AstraZeneca UK Ltd. and two of its corporate allies have hit Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. with a patent suit claiming the generics maker's application to make a copycat version of the blockbuster cholesterol drug is an act of infringement. Watson's new drug application, filed in September with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, to make rosuvastatin zinc tablets in four dosage strengths, infringes a patent for the drug, according to Wednesday's complaint in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. AstraZeneca is represented by Finnegan.
