4th Circ. Blesses Electronic Transfers of Copyright

“The Fourth Circuit held for the first time Wednesday that copyright interests can legally be transferred electronically, affirming an injunction against American Home Realty Network, Inc.” Ruling in favor of Finnegan client Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc., the court found the 2000 federal E-Sign Act “which ensures the validity of electronic signatures, applies to copyright transfers.” Finnegan represented MRIS in this matter.
