Finnegan clients Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) petitioned the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to review new rules implemented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The new rules eliminate the a long-standing informal claims process and institutes a rigid, standardized form that is not beneficial to veterans. Some veterans may be physically, mentally, or financially unable to access the correct forms, which could result in benefits being denied or delayed. Finnegan attorneys Doris Johnson Hines, Lauren J. Dreyer, and Benjamin R. Schlesinger are representing VFW and DAV pro bono.
