Associate
Bushra Haque focuses on proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), litigation, patent prosecution, client counseling, and due diligence. Her technical background is in the life sciences.
While in law school, Bushra worked at Finnegan as both a summer associate and as a law clerk. She assisted with various patent prosecution matters, drafted an Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) complaint, and drafted an appeal for a pro bono veteran's affairs case. She also developed a strong commitment to advocating for the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within her school and the legal field.
During her undergraduate studies, Bushra served as a research intern at Virginia Tech's technology transfer office, VT LINK: Center for Advancing Industry Partnerships. Through this work with university-developed innovations, Bushra explored the intersection of patent law and business development. Her role included helping to identify potential licensing partners for novel technologies developed by university faculty members and students.
Bushra values giving back to the community and advocating for those in need through pro bono work. This includes assisting veterans with appealing denials of their service-related disability benefits. Bushra also takes a keen interest in helping refugees seeking asylum.
Successfully represented Bausch & Lomb and Eye Therapies in a Hatch-Waxman patent infringement litigation and parallel PTAB challenges concerning an ANDA for generic versions of over-the-counter Lumify® ocular drops. The cases settled favorably for our clients.
