World Intellectual Property Review interviewed Finnegan managing partner Anand Sharma to discuss his forecast for the top three intellectual property (IP) trends facing lawyers and IP owners in 2022. Anand believes the top three trends in IP will be: subject matter eligibility, artificial intelligence (AI), and non-fungible tokens.
In regard to AI technology, Anand stated, “Many times when we are dealing with an AI invention, there’s not transparency in exactly how the software is solving the problem... so we’ll see either different standards for AI inventions, or that is going to be one of the hurdles.”
