LONDON— Finnegan is pleased to announce that Jin Ooi has joined the firm as a partner in the London office, further strengthening its global litigation capabilities in key markets. Jin, a Legal 500-recognized “Next Generation Partner,” focuses on patent litigation and disputes across the life sciences sector, with a particular emphasis on pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical devices. Clients say that Jin “combines deep technical knowledge with strategic thinking, which makes his advice not only accurate but also highly practical and commercially attuned. Jin’s practice extends beyond traditional life sciences patent disputes to encompass a broad range of IP related matters. He has been involved in many of the leading cases on interim licences and declarations thereof in the FRAND space involving standard essential patents (SEPs). He also works at the intersection of intellectual property and commercial litigation issues, including contractual and regulatory disputes involving life sciences companies. In addition, Jin brings experience in life sciences regulatory advice matters, in addition to related transactional work, including support for mergers and acquisitions in regulated industries.

Finnegan’s 250+ litigators practice in courts across the United States, Germany, the UK as well as the Unified Patent Court (UPC), allowing the firm to offer coordinated representation in multi-jurisdictional disputes.
