A Finnegan trial team led by partner Jacob Schroeder secured a major win for client Promptu Systems Corp. in its long-running patent dispute with Comcast. A federal jury in Philadelphia awarded $240 million, finding Comcast willfully infringed two Promptu patents covering voice-recognition technology used in cable television and video delivery.
The victory follows Finnegan’s successful Federal Circuit appeal that revived the case after the court overturned an earlier claims construction ruling. Partners Jerry Ivey, John Williamson, Chris Blackford, Ben Schlesinger, Cara Regan, Jeff Totten, and Dan Klodowski also contributed to the trial effort.
