Law360 Ranks Finnegan a Top 5 Firm for Diversity

July 16, 2024

Law360

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 16, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC—Law360 released its 2024 Diversity Snapshot, which recognizes firms that are progressing in their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. Finnegan ranked as a top five firm for diversity overall and a top ten firm for representation of minority equity partners. These rankings come on the heels of recent diversity rankings from The American Lawyer, which ranked Finnegan a top ten firm for minority representation, and from Seramount, which named Finnegan a top firm for Women and Diversity.

DEI is an integral part of Finnegan’s culture, and the firm has established a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at increasing diversity in the IP profession. The Finnegan Diversity Scholarship, Finnegan IP University, and the Finnegan IP Summit strive to encourage diverse and underrepresented students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields to pursue careers in IP law. The firm’s Corporate Mentorship Program and Diversity Secondments provide opportunities for diverse attorneys to partner with clients to build relationships and grow their business development, relationship building, and leadership skills.

In 2024, the firm held its first diversity summit, known as the Vision Summit, which provided a space for underrepresented communities to authentically and candidly discuss issues in retaining and advancing diverse talent. Finnegan was also an early adopter of the Mansfield Rule, which pledges that a broad pool of talent, including historically underrepresented groups such as women lawyers, underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities, make up at least 30 percent of candidates for leadership positions and career advancement opportunities. Finnegan is currently Mansfield 6.0 Plus certified.

“We are honored to be recognized as a top firm for diversity,” said Ming Yang, Finnegan’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Partner-in-Charge. “We are committed to recruiting and retaining diverse attorneys. We understand the value and have experienced the benefits of cultivating an inclusive work environment.”
