WASHINGTON, DC— Finnegan was recognized as one of the top 10 firms in the United States for its minority representation by The American Lawyer. This ranking was released as part of the annual Diversity Scorecard, which ranks AmLaw 200 and NLJ 250 Law firms based on their ability to attract, retain, and promote talent from demographics that are historically underrepresented in the legal industry. The Minority Representation ranking is determined by the percentage of minority attorneys overall, as well as in partner and leadership ranks.
Firms are ranked by Diversity Score, with the lowest being the best. To determine this score, firms are ranked in a series of metrics assessing their percentage of racial and ethnic diversity across lawyer headcount by role; leadership of the executive committee, offices and practice and industry groups; and their hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse talent. Each section represents a percentage of the overall diversity score, and the number of applicable criteria in each section determines each criterion's value. The overall diversity score is then determined by combining the scores for the leadership, talent management, equity partner, and non-equity partner, associate, and other attorney sections.
“This achievement demonstrates Finnegan’s continued success in promoting and retaining minority attorneys and ensuring they have strong pathways for career progression,” said Diversity Partner in Charge Ming Yang. “I am extremely proud that Finnegan is among the best firms in the nation for all attorneys to succeed.”
