FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
11 December 2023
MUNICH—Finnegan is pleased to welcome Janina Wortmann to the firm as a partner in Munich. Janina will join the firm in January 2024 to develop Finnegan’s trademark and design law practice in Germany and the EU.
Janina advises companies on German and EU trademark and design law and represents them in related litigation, including preliminary injunction proceedings. She also handles unfair competition law, copyright and domain matters and counsels clients on selective distribution systems. Her industry focus is on consumer goods and food. Janina Wortmann is a lecturer for trademark and design law at the AMD Akademie Mode & Design in Munich and a board member of the German fashion industry’s association DTB and she regularly publishes articles on legal issues concerning the fashion and cosmetics industry.
"Janina’s outstanding legal and industry experience is an excellent fit for our team, both professionally and personally," said Jochen Herr, managing partner of Finnegan’s Munich office. "We are looking forward to expanding the range of IP counselling services in the German market and to serving our clients in trademark and design law."
"For me, Finnegan has the allure of a highly specialized firm with immense international clout," says Janina regarding her move. "I am thrilled to begin this new opportunity and excited to serve Finnegan’s excellent client-base around the world together with my new colleagues."
Since entering the market in Germany in 2022, Finnegan’s Munich office has almost tripled its team in size. In addition to patent infringement and validity litigation before the German courts, the Unified Patent Court has been a key growth driver for the Munich practice. Establishing a trademark and design practice in Germany further boosts Finnegan’s global IP footprint: With five offices in the US, four in Asia and two in Europe, Finnegan is one of only a handful of firms that can provide comprehensive advice in all jurisdictions relevant to patent and trademark litigation.
