Press Release

BMW Group Secures Quick Dismissal in the Southern District of Texas

August 18, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 18, 2025

Finnegan is pleased to announce that BMW Group secured a victory against Wyoming-based Non-Practicing Entity Ad Innovations, LLC (“Ad Innovations”) in the Southern District of Texas, as Ad Innovations—in discovering that its infringement theory was entirely baseless—recently dismissed its case against BMW of North America, LLC (“BMW NA”).

On June 6, 2025, Ad Innovations sued BMW NA based on an allegedly infringing feature in its 7 Series vehicles. But, as confirmed by public sources, the allegedly infringing feature was entirely missing. With the tried and trusted support of the Finnegan team, BMW Group was able to obtain a swift, cost-effective dismissal of the case. This most recent victory confirms BMW Group’s winning streak against baseless claims by NPEs.
