Jacob Schroeder is a first-chair trial attorney representing clients in high-stakes patent litigation through verdict, post-trial proceedings, and appeal. He has led trial teams in complex matters across a range of technologies, developing and executing case strategies that resonate with judges and juries alike. Jacob handles all phases of contentious patent matters, including pre-suit diligence, discovery, motion practice, claim construction, and appeals, while focusing on positioning cases for success at trial. This holistic experience allows him to align key strategic decisions with a cohesive trial strategy.
Jacob also brings to his practice distinct insights from clerkships at both appellate and district courts. He clerked at the CAFC with the Honorable Richard Linn), and at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California with the Honorable Lucy H. Koh.
Prior to his legal career, Jacob worked as a software engineer in the Unified Communications Business Unit at Cisco Systems, Inc., developing components for MeetingPlace voice-, video-, and web-conferencing software.
Jacob previously led the firm’s Electrical Practice Group and served as hiring partner for Finnegan’s Palo Alto office. He was an adjunct lecturer at Santa Clara University School of Law and The George Washington University Law School, and has guest lectured at the University of Washington School of Law.

Promptu Systems Corporation v. Comcast Corporation
Obtained a $240 million jury verdict for client Promptu in a patent infringement lawsuit against Comcast. The jury found that Comcast willfully infringed Promptu’s patents covering voice recognition technology for TV.

Successfully represented DJI in a patent litigation involving drone technology and succeeded in getting the entirety of plaintiff’s damages expert’s report excluded under Daubert on the eve of trial, driving a favorable resolution.

Bell Northern Research, LLC v. HMD America, Inc. et al.
Represented Unisoc Technologies Co. Ltd. in a patent litigation involving mobile phones and tablets. Secured a dismissal of the proceeding under Rule 12 with the Court holding it lacked personal jurisdiction over Unisoc.

Advanced Aerodynamics, LLC v. DJI Technology, Inc.
Successfully represented DJI in a patent litigation involving drone technology. Exposed serious flaws in plaintiff’s infringement allegations, driving a voluntary dismissal and a complete walk away for DJI.
