On March 29, 2017, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) ruled in favor of Finnegan client, Unified Patents Inc., invalidating the asserted claims of a Convergent Media Solutions patent related to streaming online video services. In the inter partes review proceeding, the PTAB found that a combination of patents that preceded Convergent's patent would have made the claims obvious.
