The U.S. International Trade Commission has determined that LG Electronics Inc. did not violate Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing refrigerators that infringe a Whirlpool Corp. patent for ice storage bins. The ITC’s final determination, terminating the investigation, ruled that the technology in LG’s side-by-side model refrigerators does not infringe Whirlpool’s patent and that all but one of the asserted claims is invalid due to obviousness. LG is represented in this matter by Finnegan.
