The American Lawyer Names Finnegan as Intellectual Property Litigation Department of the Year

WASHINGTON, DC - The American Lawyer has named Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, as Litigation Department of the Year in the intellectual property category for 2012. In its biennial survey, American Lawyer selected Finnegan based on the firm’s litigation successes, depth of practice, and dedication to its clients. The publication stated, “The IP-only firm locked up the contest with a spate of victories in every major IP litigation forum, pleasing their clients and shaping the future of patent law.”

Firms were chosen based on their accomplishments from August 1, 2009 to July 31, 2011. During this two-year period, Finnegan represented clients in some of the most anticipated and closely watched cases, including Bilski v. Kappos, i4i LP v. Microsoft, and Ariad Pharmaceuticals v. Eli Lilly and Co. It also handled hundreds of other cases across the spectrum of IP forums, including federal district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. The publication stated “As other IP specialty firms disappear, Finnegan continues to flourish, racking up wins—for clients large and small.”

“Having Finnegan recognized as American Lawyer’s Intellectual Property Litigation Department of the Year for the second time in the same decade is a great achievement,” said Barbara C. McCurdy, managing partner. “Our lawyers have litigated some of the most important and challenging IP cases over the past two years, and we are extremely pleased to be recognized for our work.”
