The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) issued its very first inter partes review (IPR) ruling, invalidating LCD technology patents held by Cuozzo. The case involved complex technical arguments, and Finnegan partner Erika Arner said the ruling, “is an indication that the type of invalidity challenges you might not want to bring to a district court might be worth bringing to the PTAB.”
