Finnegan Receives 2014 WILEF Gold Standard Certification for the Fourth Consecutive Year

WASHINGTON, DC — For the fourth year in a row, the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) has recognized Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP as one of top firm’s for women lawyers. The WILEF Gold Standard Certification is granted to firms that have integrated women into top leadership positions and compensated them well. Launched in 2011, the WILEF initiative invites law firms with 200 or more attorneys in the U.S. to apply for the certification. Forty-five firms qualified for the award this year.

WILEF’s initiative is unique in its mission to certify, publicly recognize, and broadly publicize law firms that have integrated women into the highest leadership positions. “We are delighted to once again receive this distinguished recognition that clearly demonstrates Finnegan’s ongoing commitment to fostering and rewarding women in leadership at the firm,” said Finnegan Managing Partner James B. Monroe.

To receive the honor, firms had to satisfy at least four of the six criteria involving women in key positions:

  • 20% of equity partners or alternatively, 33% or more of the non-lateral attorneys becoming equity partners during the past twelve months;
  • 10% of firm chairs and office managing partners (firm-wide, U.S., or North American Regional and U.S. branch offices);
  • 20% of the firm's primary governance committee;
  • 20% or more of the firm's compensation committee;
  • 25% of practice group leaders and/or department heads; and
  • 10% of the top half of the most highly compensated equity partners in the firm.
