Patent pooling in the telecommunications industry

A large technology company with IP in the telecommunications industry asked Finnegan to strategically analyze its patent portfolio. We evaluated over 1,100 patents on their behalf and identified a number of patents that were essential to a telecommunications standard that was being formed. We brought these patents to our client’s attention and negotiated with the patent pool administrator on their behalf to determine if they should join the pool or license their patents independently.
