Last year, cryptocurrency market capitalization reached about $2.2 trillion, with more than 300 million users worldwide. Among other things, this massive growth reflects rising mainstream acceptance of cryptocurrencies, as further evidenced by the influx of institutional investors in 2021 despite continued price volatility. With this tremendous growth, the cryptocurrency patent space has likewise evolved to address demands for new financial products and services, reduced security risks, and improved cryptocurrency mining operations, consensus mechanisms, etc.
Unsurprisingly, these exciting developments were accompanied by an increase in patent applications and lawsuits filed in the cryptocurrency space, as compared to the past few years. In this webinar, we will explore recent trends in cryptocurrency patents and how they can impact prosecution and litigation strategy.
