Finnegan will host an in-person seminar exploring the latest trends in U.S. intellectual property law. This session will provide practical insights on the following topics:

• AI Inventions and Patent Eligibility: A practical guide to the patentability and other legal issues surrounding AI-related inventions in the high-tech and pharmaceutical sectors.
• Current Status of NPE Litigation and PTAB Practice: We will explain the current trends in litigation by NPEs (Non-Practicing Entities) and the new discretionary dismissal procedure at the PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board), and consider impacts that Japanese companies should be aware of.
• Treatment of "Inherency" in the Chemical and Pharmaceutical sectors: We will examine recent chemical and pharmaceutical cases in which "inherency" was applied in determining inventive step, and explain this complex concept with practical strategies.
