Press Release

Working Mother Names Finnegan the Top Firm for Diversity and Accountability

July 31, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 31, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC—For the eighth consecutive year, Working Mother has recognized Finnegan on its "Best Law Firms for Women" list. The firm is #1 for Diversity and Accountability and ranks in the top 10 overall in the category of Support for Women’s Advancement.

The "Best Law Firms for Women" survey recognizes 60 firms that utilize best practices in retaining and promoting women lawyers. It highlights law firms where, on average, almost half of associates and more than one third of partners are women, while one-fifth of equity partners are women. Firms on the list also increasingly offer extended parental-leave benefits and encourage lawyers to work remotely and use flexible hours.

Finnegan partner Erin Sommers was also recognized as a Working Mother of the Year. When Erin joined the firm as a technical specialist in 2006, she harnessed the guidance and experience of key mentors to teach her not only about Finnegan's practice, but also how to balance work, law school, and a family.

"As a firm, we understand we are a more innovative, strategic, and effective firm supporting the career advancement of the firm’s female attorneys and providing opportunities for leadership roles. Finnegan is deeply committed to these efforts, as shown through our recruiting and mentoring efforts, as well as our recent commitment to the Mansfield Rule 2.0," said Finnegan managing partner Mark Sweet.
