Working Mother Honors Finnegan as One of the “Best Law Firms for Women"

July 16, 2019

Working Mother

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 16, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC—Finnegan continues to be recognized as a “Best Law Firm for Women” by Working Mother magazine, reflecting the firm’s ongoing commitment to recruiting, retaining, promoting, and developing female attorneys. The “Best Law Firms for Women” list highlights law firms that averaged 37 percent women among new equity partners, compared with only 27 percent five years ago. The firms also offer key initiatives for parental leave, work-life balance, and career advancement.

In addition, Finnegan partner Aliza Carrano was named a Working Mother of the Year. Aliza said, "I take advantage of the firm's flexible work arrangement options by working from home sometimes to reduce time spent commuting. At home, when it is time for my children, I commit to fully engage with them. That means not constantly checking email or scheduling calls during this time."

“Diversity is a top priority at Finnegan, which means we are serious about providing pathways for our female attorneys to advance,” said managing partner Anand Sharma. In addition to being ranked by Working Mother for nine consecutive years, Finnegan is an early adopter of the Mansfield Rule 2.0, which pledges that women, minority, and LGBTQ attorneys will make up at least 30 percent of candidates for leadership or governance positions, including lateral hires and equity partner promotions. In support, the women partners launched Finnegan FORWARD, an initiative with three objectives: establish business initiatives for women attorneys; increase internal and external networks for women attorneys; and provide career advancement and business development training programs tailored specifically to women.
