Managing Intellectual Property
Coke Morgan Stewart was named the latest United States Patent and Trademark Office deputy director on January 20. She will serve as acting director until a new director is appointed. There is no confirmation on who President Donald Trump will pick.
Formerly a counsel at O’Melveny & Meyers, Coke also held various roles at the USPTO, including acting deputy solicitor and acting chief of staff.
Finnegan managing partner Erika Harmon Arner spoke to Managing Intellectual Property, saying she’s known Coke for a long time.
“The fact that I know Coke well is not unique in the IP world. She’s well-known to most folks in the patent and trademark space. She worked at the USPTO for many years.”
She added, “It’s terrific to have someone well-versed in IP be involved in the office so quickly.”
