Uber Failed to Prove Location Tracking Patent Invalid: PTAB

October 15, 2018

Law360

On October 12, 2018 the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) upheld two patents that Finnegan client X One owns on a system for wireless devices to exchange GPS information, finding that the claims challenged by Uber were not obvious in light of prior art. Uber argued that previous Japanese patent applications and U.S. patents taught the challenged claims, but the PTAB disagreed, ruling that the referenced Japanese patents did not disclose the claims in question.
