Two Finnegan Partners Take Home 2022 LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards

WASHINGTON, DC—Finnegan partners Jill MacAlpine and John Livingstone won respective awards for Patent Strategy Attorney of the Year – DC Metro and General Patent Litigator of the Year – South at the 2022 LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards in New York. Both have also been consistently recognized by LMG in the yearly Life Sciences rankings.

Jill focuses on strategic counseling, prosecution, and patent litigation, primarily in the chemical and pharmaceutical areas. She spends a significant portion of her time involved in pre-litigation analyses, due diligence investigations, opinion preparation, and strategic client counseling, including patent portfolio management, Orange Book listings of patents covering FDA-approved drugs, and patent term extensions.

John focuses on complex pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology patent litigation before U.S. district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also serves as lead counsel in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

The event celebrated the professional achievements of some of the most well-known names in the life sciences legal sector. The award categories covered the four main practice areas surveyed by the LMG Life Sciences research team, including regulatory, financial & corporate, intellectual property and litigation.

The award results are determined through a rigorous research process involving in-depth firm submissions, practitioner interviews, client feedback and independent research.
