For the second consecutive year, Finnegan was one of 20 law firms on The National Law Journal’s annual Intellectual Property Hot List. NLJ noted recent media buzz around Finnegan’s “unusually generous reimbursement program” that covers law school tuition costs for student associates who work at the firm part time while attending law school. Finnegan managing partner Barbara C. McCurdy said, “The overall objective is to attract the best people and to enhance their training. We want to attract people who are technically adept and bring them in as students.”
The Hot List includes firms that excel in providing patent, copyright, and trademark legal services. NLJ highlighted Finnegan’s litigation victory at the Federal Circuit with client Akamai Technologies, Inc., in a ruling which “made it easier for plaintiffs to win in cases involving infringing acts committed by more than one actor.” The article also mentioned Finnegan’s work with HTC Corp. and S3 Graphics Co. The firm represented the parties in ITC litigation. In November, they announced a 10-year licensing agreement that settled the litigation. “We continue to be a go-to firm on the short list of the most important IP cases for the industry,” McCurdy said.
