Reissued i4i Panel Opinion Offers No Solace to Microsoft, En Banc Petition Pending

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit recently affirmed a 2009 patent infringement judgment against Microsoft Corp. Microsoft’s petition for rehearing en banc remains open. Judge Leonard Davis upheld a previous jury’s award of $290 million to i4i, enhancing the damages by $40 million, and enjoined Microsoft from selling, using, or supporting versions of Word that are capable of opening XML files. i4i is represented in this matter by Finnegan.
