Managing Intellectual Property
Anna Chauvet rejoined Finnegan on January 8 after over a decade of being away. She returns as the copyright practice leader. She told Managing IP that, “Rejoining Finnegan at this moment presented an amazing opportunity to lead and grow the copyright practice at a leading IP firm. I’m very excited to be here.”
As a former vice president of public policy at the trade association, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) as well as an associate general counsel at the US Copyright Office, she said she hopes to use those experiences to help clients navigate policy issues.
Her interests include analyzing draft legislation and helping clients develop Congressional testimony related to copyright. “I spent a lot of time doing that at the NAB,” she said.
She added that she has deep knowledge of the US Copyright Office’s practices, which will allow her to advocate for clients before the agency, including preparing written comments in response to the office’s requests for feedback.
“I’m excited to provide strategic counsel to our clients and build out a more policy-based practice,” she said.
Anna said she is also keen to mentor associates who are interested in copyright.
In addition to helping clients with policy issues, Anna is also interested in advising clients on litigation and enforcement.
“I would love to be able to provide a bird's-eye-view into the copyright ecosystem to help benefit clients broadly,” she added.
