Finnegan partner Lionel Lavenue led a team that won an anti-suit injunction in the Western District of Texas on behalf of BMW, blocking U.S. patent holder Onesta from pursuing parallel infringement litigation in Munich. In granting the injunction, Judge Alan Albright emphasized that allowing the German case to proceed would undermine U.S. interests in adjudicating its own patents and preserving jury trial rights, noting that Munich proceedings would deprive BMW of core protections available only in U.S. courts.
