Law360’s Legal Lions of the Week

February 23, 2024

Law360 Pulse

Finnegan attorneys Josh Goldberg, Jacob Schroeder and Counsel Joseph Schaffner made Law360’s Legal Lions list by securing a win on behalf of firm client Promptu Systems Corp. On February 16, the Federal Circuit revived a patent suit against Comcast over voice recognition technology. The court ruled that the lower court misinterpreted the patents and thus vacated a judgment between Comcast and Promptu. U.S. District Judge Juan Sanchez of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania issued a claim construction order that largely followed Comcast’s proposed interpretations of terms in Promptu’s patents. Promptu had agreed to dismiss the case so that it could appeal the judge’s claim construction. The Federal Circuit agreed with most of the company’s arguments.
