On November 26, 2019, the District of Massachusetts ruled in favor of Finnegan client SharkNinja, allowing SharkNinja to continue to sell its Shark IQ Robot vacuum cleaner during an ongoing patent infringement litigation. Competitor iRobot sued SharkNinja in October 2019, accusing the company of infringing six patents related to its Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner. In addition, iRobot filed for a preliminary injunction over three of the patents to prohibit SharkNinja from selling the Shark IQ Robot during the upcoming holiday season. The court denied the preliminary injunction, as SharkNinja demonstrated that it was aware of iRobot’s patents and intentionally designed its products so that they would not infringe.
