At its inaugural conference, "IP in the Auto Industry: Challenges and Opportunities in a Converging World," World Trademark Review caught up with Finnegan partner P. Andrew Riley on the impact of new players in with the automobile industry, such as the California-based electric car company Tesla. Says Riley, "The company’s success is due in large part to 'the creation of a great brand name.'" He continues, "This demonstrates the importance of working on all forms of IP to compete with new players in the market ‒ trademarks and the associations you can create with your products are even more important in this competitive day and age.”
