LMG Life Sciences
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 8, 2023
WASHINGTON, DC—The 2023 LMG Life Sciences Awards were held on September 7 at Essex House in New York City, where the top firms and practitioners in the life sciences legal sector were recognized. Finnegan took home the awards for Intellectual Property Boutique Firm of the Year and Inter Partes Review Firm of the Year. Partner James Monroe received the award for Hatch-Waxman Litigator of the Year – Branded.
Finnegan’s life sciences practice includes attorneys and professionals with degrees in relevant scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, pharmacology, biomedical engineering, or electrical engineering, as well as attorneys with extensive experience in brand management and protection. Many joined Finnegan after holding positions in industry, at universities, or as examiners with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The firm’s experienced attorneys and IP professionals have an in-depth understanding of the complex legal, technical, regulatory, and business issues faced by industries innovating in the life sciences.
Finnegan attorneys have handled hundreds of IPR proceedings involving patents in the life sciences field, and their deep technical backgrounds allow them to get into the weeds about the patented technology, prior art, and PTAB procedures. While the firm has been recognized as one of the most experienced firm in representing petitioners, a distinguishing feature of our practice is that we also devote a significant portion of our practice to defending patent owners. Our experience on both sides of the table allows us to be an objective resource for clients facing post-grant challenges.
As a leading patent practitioner with extensive ANDA litigation experience involving the Hatch-Waxman Act, James Monroe focuses on U.S. district court and appellate litigation. He has served as lead counsel for numerous matters involving U.S. patent rights in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. He has also represented clients in a wide array of technologies, including industrial chemicals, beverage compositions, food products, packaging materials, photochemistry, petroleum processing, biofuels, alloys, paper products, and glass making.
The LMG Life Sciences award results are determined through a rigorous research process involving in-depth firm submissions, practitioner interviews, client feedback, and independent research.
