SHANGHAI, CHINA–Finnegan is pleased to announce that Ningling Wang has become President of Licensing Executives Society International (LESI). Ningling is managing partner of the firm’s Shanghai office and has held several past positions within LESI and LES China. The gavel was officially passed to Ningling at the International Management and Delegate Meeting of LESI on April 26, 2026.
Ningling has long been an active leader within LESI, having served on the LESI Board of Directors, the LES China Board of Directors and Special Counsel, and in multiple leadership roles across LESI. As LESI President, Ningling will focus on key initiatives including leadership development, education initiatives, AI, and continued industry engagement, with the goal of helping members more effectively manage and commercialize intellectual property. These efforts also support sustainable innovation and enable businesses of all sizes to protect and maximize the value of their innovations.

Ningling advises multinational and Chinese companies on intellectual property portfolio management, due diligence, licensing, litigation, and trade secret protection and enforcement in the areas of chemicals, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, semiconductor materials, 3D printing, and nanotechnology. Her practice includes extensive experience before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and U.S. district courts, as well as representing companies in IP enforcement actions in China, including judicial and customs matters.
Ningling’s work and leadership have been widely recognized. She has been named an Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Global Leader for patent transactions in China and patent prosecution, and was selected for the IAM Strategy 300, which highlights leading IP strategists globally. She has also been recognized as a WIPR Leader for patents in China by World Intellectual Property Review.
Finnegan’s historic relationship with LESI dates back to the organization’s inception. Firm founder Marc Finnegan helped establish LESI and served as President of both LESI and LES USA/Canada. Former Finnegan partners Kenneth E. Payne and D. Patrick O’Reilley also served as President of both organizations, and Finnegan partner John Paul served as LESI President during the 2021–2022 term.
