FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 8, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC—Working Mother released its 13th annual “Best Law Firms for Women” list, recognizing Finnegan for the 10th consecutive year. This year’s list highlights law firms that average 23 percent women among equity partners and offer key parental-leave, work-life, and career-advancement initiatives. The firm was honored for utilizing best practices in finding, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers, with its overall ranking increasing more than 30 spots this year. The firm’s achievements also earned it a coveted designation in Working Mother’s Hall of Fame.

Finnegan partner Anna Naydonov was named a Working Mother of the Year. Regarding work-life balance, Anna noted, “It is not always going to be easy, there will always be guilt, and if you chase work-balance perfection, you are setting yourself up for a path of exhaustion. But so long as you are authentic about it and your kids know why you are passionate about your work and why what you do actually matters, it inspires them to pursue their own goals.”

“Finnegan is honored to be inducted in Working Mother’s Hall of Fame,” said managing partner Anand Sharma. “We are committed to gender equality and establishing programs and initiatives that aid in the advancement of our women attorneys.”

In support of the firm’s women attorneys, Finnegan has established several initiatives. Finnegan FORWARD (Focused on Raising Women’s Advancement, Representation, and Development) is focused on key initiatives such as business development, marketing and recruiting efforts, and education and training for continued support of women attorneys in IP and advertising law, firm governance, and STEM-related fields. Additionally, the firm’s Women’s Forum was established to address the mentoring, networking, and educational needs of the firm’s women attorneys. The Women’s Forum plans formal and informal events (both social and educational) designed to empower our women and to enhance their professional and social relationships.

“Finnegan recognizes the importance of supporting our women attorneys, both professionally and personally,” said diversity partner-in-charge Mareesa Frederick. “As a working mother, I have long appreciated our firm’s focus on ensuring women are represented in leadership positions and offered opportunities for continued growth, providing the flexibility needed for success.”

Watch Finnegan partner Erika Arner accept the firm's "Best Law Firms for Women" award.
