FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 17, 2021
WASHINGTON, DC—Finnegan is pleased to achieve Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 4.0 Certification Plus status. The goal of the Mansfield Rule is to boost representation of historically underrepresented lawyers as candidates for lateral hiring, senior leadership positions, and business development activities at law firms. Mansfield Rule has become the standard by which law firms track and measure their affirmative consideration of women attorneys, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and attorneys with disabilities when filling leadership positions, pitch teams, and other roles. Mansfield Certification Plus status indicates that, in addition to meeting or exceeding the baseline certification requirements, the firm has successfully reached at least 30 percent in underrepresented lawyer representation in recruitment, governance roles, equity partner promotions, and inclusion in formal pitches to clients.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion have been long-standing priorities at Finnegan. In June 2021, the firm signed on for Mansfield Rule 5.0. In addition to participating in the Mansfield Rule, Finnegan offers opportunities to diverse attorneys, including through diversity secondments, sponsorship of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), and our corporate partnership initiatives. Law360 named Finnegan a top 10 firm for having the highest representation of minorities in its equity partnership. The firm also ranked as a top firm for diversity in the Chambers Associate Guide and The American Lawyer’s 2021 Diversity Scorecard.
