FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, DC—Finnegan is pleased to announce that Darren Jiron will serve as managing partner of the firm’s London office, effective April 1, 2022. In this role, Darren will focus on leading the firm’s strategy in the United Kingdom and Europe, working closely with leadership in the firm’s Munich office. “A large part of my practice has been developing global patent strategies for clients across the U.S., Europe, and Israel in patent procurement and patent litigation matters. I am thrilled by this opportunity to work more closely with our clients in the United Kingdom and Europe, especially in building integrated teams that span Finnegan’s full-service IP capabilities in both the U.S. and Europe. I’m also looking forward to interacting with and contributing to the local business and IP communities,” said Darren.
Darren has a special interest in helping high-tech and fast-growing companies craft patent plans to block competitors and build corporate value. His experience covers a wide range of technology areas, including machine vision, optics, software and sensor-based control systems, user interfaces, medical devices, artificial intelligence, computer architecture, consumer electronics, advanced materials, batteries, and green energy. He has represented clients in all phases of patent litigation before numerous U.S. district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). He also leads post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and has extensive experience in the strategic use of patent reexamination and post-grant proceedings in conjunction with parallel litigation.
The London office also recently welcomed Amanda Murphy, Ph.D., who relocated from the firm’s Washington, DC office to London to support life sciences clients in the UK and Europe. Amanda’s practice focuses on strategic client counseling, portfolio management, and patent prosecution. She has experience in prosecuting inter partes and ex parte reexamination applications, supplemental examinations, and reissue applications, and in challenging and defending patents in post-grant proceedings before the PTAB.
“We are excited to have Darren and Amanda on-the-ground in London to support our UK and European IP law practice,” said Anthony Tridico, current managing partner of the London office. “With the focus on counseling, prosecution, and oppositions in London and our recent expansion to Munich focusing on litigation, Finnegan is positioned as a premier, full-service IP firm in Europe.”
