The U.S. Supreme Court’s Latest Pronouncements Regarding Patent Eligibility and Other Fundamental Issues

June 6, 2012

The Supreme Court has shown a great deal of interest in patent issues lately, deciding six patent cases in its two most recent terms. In these landmark rulings, the Court has considered issues ranging from the scope of patentable subject matter in the United States to the standard of proof for proving invalidity of a U.S. patent. These decisions have altered the course of U.S. patent law and impacted practice at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the lower courts.

Please join our panel as they discuss the Supreme Court’s most recent pronouncements and the implications for U.S. patent practice, including:

• Patenting medical and diagnostic methods after Mayo v. Prometheus

• Challenging adverse USPTO decisions in the district courts in light of Kappos v. Hyatt

• Satisfying the evolving standard for induced infringement after Global-Tech v. SEB

• Withstanding prior art validity challenges based on Microsoft v. i4i

This webinar is the fourth in Finnegan’s 2012 series, “Strategic U.S. Patent Series for European Counsel.” We hope you are able to attend.
