Seminar

Extracting Value from Your Patents

March 10, 2017

Taipei, Taiwan

For many companies, intellectual property (IP) is one of their most valuable assets. Conventionally, companies have attempted to extract value from those assets by developing, manufacturing, and selling products protected by their patents. In the face of today’s growing economic pressures, however, businesses are seeking alternatives to this invent it–sell it model. One alternative, in a growing number of cases, is for the company to develop a strategy to monetize its IP in order to extract value from and otherwise financially leverage its patents.

There is, however, no single, guaranteed strategy for monetizing IP, and determining exactly which path to take when attempting to monetize any particular patent is rarely simple. William Strauss will discuss how to maximize the value of your IP and then select among various approaches to extract that value. Susan Griffen will then focus on one of the most frequently chosen strategies for patent monetization–patent licensing.
