ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law Publishes Guidebook on PTAB Trials Authored by Finnegan Attorneys

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law released The Practitioner's Guide to Trials Before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, a new resource for patent practitioners actively involved in managing trials before the PTAB. Authored by six Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP attorneys, the book is a concise, practical resource on PTAB trials that combine features of both patent prosecution and litigation.

Lead authors Erika Harmon Arner and Joseph E. Palys have handled more than 60 PTAB proceedings. Together with Finnegan coauthors Cory C. Bell, Paromita (Mita) Chatterjee, Joshua L. Goldberg, and Timothy P. McAnulty, they share practical experience and strategies for PTAB trials.

The Practitioner's Guide to Trials Before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board is a focused desk reference with checklists, charts, and practice tips. Practice-focused sections include:

  • A quick reference for PTAB statutes and rules
  • Building patent trials into your litigation strategy
  • A detailed description of a PTAB trial from petition preparation to appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
  • Clear references to supporting laws, rules, and regulations

The Practitioner's Guide to Trials Before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board is available for purchase from the ABA Web Store.
