7-Eleven Didn’t Tread on ATM Patents, Fed. Circ. Says

April 23, 2012

Law360

On April 23, the Federal Circuit affirmed a Delaware district court’s ruling that 7-Eleven’s ATMs “were hooked into private servers, not a public network, rejecting Automated Transactions LLC’s argument that a district judge had used the wrong definition of “Internet” in dismissing the suit.” This lawsuit, which was initially filed in 2006, targeted 7-Eleven's majority shareholder IYG Holding Co.; Vcom Financial Services Inc., which supplied the convenience store chain with ATMs. Finnegan represented IYG in this matter.
